Program Introduction
Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program (Scholarship Type: Type B; Institution Code of Shanghai University of Sport: 10277) is a scholarship set up by the Chinese government to facilitate international students to conduct their study at Chinese universities. The Program aims at international students with excellent disciplinary background, specialized capabilities, and growth potential according to the following process: personal application, school recommendation, expert review, and merit-based enrollment. Students shall directly apply to the universities for the scholarship.
● Master programs: 3-year duration
● Doctoral programs: 3-year duration

Term of scholarship: subject to the learning period specified in the Acceptance Letter
Deadline for application: 23:59 p.m. March 1, 2023 (UTC+8)
Time of enrollment: September 2023

Funding Criteria:

1. Exemption of tuition fees within the normal academic year.
2. Accommodation expenses: Students living on campus are provided with free dormitory by the university. Students living off campus will receive monthly accommodation allowance: CNY 700/month for master’s students and CNY 1,000/month for doctoral students.
3. Exempted comprehensive medical insurance expenses: CNY 800/person/year
4. Stipend: CNY 3,000/month for master’s students and CNY 3,500/month for doctoral students
Eligibility:
● Applicants shall be a citizen of a country other than the PRC holding foreign ordinary passports, who shall be in good health both mentally and physically and have the disciplinary background and research capabilities required for the program applied for.
● Students studying outside China, outstanding fresh undergraduates and fresh master’s graduates studying in China are also eligible to apply.
● Applicants of the master’s program shall be aged under 30. Applicants applying for the doctoral program shall be aged under 35.
● Applicants of the master’s program shall have obtained a bachelor's degree. Applicants applying for the doctoral program shall have obtained a master's degree.
● Chinese language proficiency: Chinese Proficiency Test HSK5 210 points or higher
● The GPA of the previous period of study shall not be lower than 3.0 points, or an average score of all subjects shall not be lower than 75 points.
● Applicants shall have no criminal records.
Application & Review Process
Step 1: Applicants shall log in to "Shanghai University of Sport - International Student Service System" (http://admission.sus.edu.cn) to register and fill in the application form, upload the required documents, and submit their applications, with the registration fee (USD 80 or CNY 500) paid online or remitted to Shanghai University of Sport:

Please state the passport name of the applicant and "registration fee" when making a remittance. (An application will not be regarded valid until the registration fee is paid, which will not be refunded once paid.)
Step 2: Shanghai University of Sport will complete preliminary document review, online interviews, and scholarship rating before March 15. After that, the university will shortlist program candidates and issue the Pre-acceptance Letter for the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program. (Note: Shanghai University of Sport will only issue the Pre-acceptance Letter to nominated candidates by e-mail (lxs@sus.edu.cn). Please regularly check your e-mail provided with your registration information.)
Step 3: Nominated candidates shall log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (Go to http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and click " Application Online"), fill in the information online, and submit the required documents before March 20. Please carefully read the Operating Procedures (as attached) before filling information. Choose "Type B" and "10277" as the number of acceptance organization of Shanghai University of Sport.
Note: The application documents must include the Pre-Acceptance Letter for the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program issued by Shanghai University of Sport. Those failing to complete the online application procedure on time will be disqualified.
Step 4: The China Scholarship Council will, following the process of "personal application, school recommendation, expert review, and merit-based enrollment", invite experts to conduct final review over the academic performance, overall quality, and growth potential of each candidate, and enroll only those who are outstanding.
Note: Candidates for the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program who are not enrolled may continue to apply for any other scholarship programs or self-funded programs of Shanghai University of Sport.
Application Documents
● One copy of valid passport (The valid period of the passport shall be beyond September 2023. If your current passport does not meet this requirement, please replace it with a new one in time.)
● One notarized copy of your diploma or degree certificate (If the original is issued in languages other than Chinese or English, please provide a notarized translated copy in Chinese or English.); if the applicant is a new graduate, please submit the originals of the certificate of attendance and pre-graduation certificate presented by one's school (with the graduation certificate submitted later after the formal graduation).
● One notarized copy of the school report for the highest level of education (If the original is issued in languages other than Chinese or English, please provide a notarized translated copy in Chinese or English.)
● The original of the HSK certificate or any other certificate proving equal language proficiency which is valid within 2 years
● One learning plan or research proposal written in Chinese or English
● One resume written in Chinese or English, including educational and working experience, research results, and learning plans
● Recommendation letters in Chinese or English from two professors or associate professors
● Tutor's pre-acceptance letter (List of master and doctoral tutors of Shanghai University of Sport: http://yjsc.sus.edu.cn/jjlhh/jjlhh41.htm)
● Previous research results/academic papers (if any)
● One copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (of the past 6 months)
● One video (MP4) with a length of less than 3 minutes to introduce yourself in both Chinese and English
● Certificate of No Criminal Records or Commitment on No Criminal Records
● Letter of Guarantee or Bank Statement proving a minimum bank deposit of CNY 100,000
● One copy or scanned copy of the payment certificate for the registration fee (CNY 500 or USD 80)

Precautions
1. Students enjoying the Chinese government scholarship shall not receive other scholarships provided by the Chinese government at each level or the enrolling university (excluding one-time awards). Those found to have violated this requirement will be disqualified for the Chinese Government Scholarship and requested to return the received Chinese Government Scholarship. Students who intentionally conceal their reception of scholarships will be disqualified and rejected when applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship in three years.
2. Recipients of scholarships under this program are not allowed to change the enrolling university, major, or learning period once arriving in China.
3. For those cannot arrive in China for studying within the valid period of their enrollment due to personal reasons, their qualification for scholarships will not retained.
4. All application documents must be provided with originals for enrollment verification. Those providing falsified documents will be disqualified for both scholarships and enrollment.
5. Scholarship recipients shall take part in annual scholarship reviews as requested. Those failing the reviews will be suspended from or disqualified for their scholarships.
6. Submitting application documents by fax is not acceptable. Those failing to provide complete application documents will be deemed to have abandoned their applications.
7. Application documents will not be returned whether applicants are enrolled or not.
